Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer butter masala is a popular North Indian dish that can be easily made at home. This recipe uses simple ingredients and is perfect for those who love the creamy and rich taste of this dish.

Ingredients:

  • 200g paneer (cottage cheese), cut into cubes
  • 2 large tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan and fry the paneer cubes until they turn golden brown. Remove the paneer from the pan and set it aside.
  2. In the same pan, add the remaining butter and cumin seeds. Once the cumin seeds splutter, add the chopped onions and fry until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and fry for a minute. Then add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  4. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder to the pan and fry for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add the fried paneer cubes to the pan and mix well. Add salt to taste.
  6. Crush the kasuri methi with your hands and sprinkle it over the paneer. Mix well.
  7. Finally, add cream to the pan and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
