Paneer Masala is a popular dish from North India, made with cubes of soft paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy tomato-based gravy. Follow the steps below to make it at home:
Ingredients:
- 250 grams paneer, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/2 cup cream
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them crackle.
- Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add the red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cubed paneer to the pan and mix gently. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cream and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti, naan, or rice.
