Classic Red Wine Sangria

Here is a recipe for a classic red wine Sangria:

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle (750ml) of red wine
  • 1/2 cup of brandy
  • 1/4 cup of orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of simple syrup
  • 1 sliced orange
  • 1 sliced lemon
  • 1 sliced apple
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Club soda or sparkling water (optional)
  • Ice

Instructions:

  1. In a large pitcher, mix the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, orange juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  2. Add the sliced orange, lemon, apple, and cinnamon stick to the pitcher, and stir well.
  3. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or up to 24 hours to allow the flavors to blend.
  4. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the Sangria over it.
  5. Top with a splash of club soda or sparkling water, if desired.
  6. Add additional fruit slices to garnish, if desired.
  7. Enjoy your refreshing and delicious Sangria!

Note: To make simple syrup, combine equal parts of granulated sugar and water in a saucepan and heat the mixture over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool before using.
